How do I import a maiing list into Outlook?

I have a list in Excel of 81 company names with e-mail addresses that I want
to send an e-mail to. Outlook won't let me without typing every single
address into the Contacts list. I really don't want them there. I tried to do
a Distribution list but couldn't import into that either. What's with having
to type everything in? Aren't we beyond that in the 21st Century? Is there
any way anyone knows about to import my list either into contacts (may a
special group) or a distribution list. My next try is using Outlook Express
for it. Maybe that will work. Thanks for any help.

Why not use it as the data source for a Word mail merge?
