How do I get the tab which reads "Menu, Home, Inserts" on Windows.

I have Windows 2007 installed and would like to know how do I get the tab
which reads "Menu Home Insert Page Layout Reference..etc" under the Customize
QuickAccess Toolbar.

That series of tabs is called the Ribbon, and you can't customize it
using any of the tools provided to the ordinary user, along the lines
of Customize QAT. It can be done by people with special knowledge of
"RibbonXML."

Menon,

Don't let Peter T. Daniels scare you off. Despite going efforts to induce
him to stick to questions that are within his range he keeps coming back
throwing up road blocks whenever someone expresses an interest in Ribbon
customization. Let me apologize on his behalf as it is very unlikely that
he would ever do so. I would love to be proven wrong.

First let me try to understand your question. The Ribbon consist of several
tabs(named as you have already mentioned) that can be:

1. minimized and arranged horizontally accross the top of the application
window (above the QAT)
2. minimized and arranged horizontally accross the top of the application
window (below the QAT)
3. displayed and arranged horizontally accross the top of the application
window (above the QAT)
4. displayed and arranged horizontally accross the top of the application
window (below the QAT)

You want the ribbon displayed under the QAT. Correct?

If this is so then the only special knowledge you need is to right click the
ribbon and select "Show Quick Access Toolbar Above the Ribbon"

In addition to what Greg has provided, there is some other behaviour
associated with the Ribbon that may be of interest to you.

The Ribbon can be 'minimized' to show only the tabs without displaying the
groups beneath each tab. This can be accomplished by right-clicking on the
Ribbon and choosing "Minimize the Ribbon" from the context menu,
double-clicking on any tab in the Ribbon or pressing Ctrl+F1. The Ribbon can
be 'un-minimized' again using any of these methods (with one minor and fairly
obvious variation).

In addition, when the Ribbon is 'minimized', single-clicking on any of the
tabs causes the groups beneath the tabs to be re-displayed temporarily and
hidden again when you've finished with them - much like the menus in older
versions of Word/Office.

(See Peter? The Ribbon isn't actually some sort of alien entity inhabiting
Word that requires a special set of tools to work with it. It's actually a
part of Word, and there *is* native Word functionality that can be used to
manipulate it - albeit in a very limited fashion. Once again: read what's
written, not just what you *think* it says. And if questions about the Ribbon
throw you - and they always seem to - then just stay away from them and leave
them to people who actually understand it.)
