How do I get the Desktop icons into alphabetic order?

When I arrange my Desktop icons by name, I realize that there will be
a few basic icons like Internet Explorer that will be given pride of place
at the beginning. However, the rest of my icons are not in one
alphabetic sequence, but in two. The first alphabetic sequence has
about sixteen icons, then the next one starts over at the beginning of
the alphabet. No rhyme or reason that I can make out: for instance,
I've installed two Corel suites, WordPerfect and CorelDraw, and one
suite is in the first sequence while the other is in the second sequence.
This is on a weeks-old new machine, so I don't think I've had time
yet to screw up the system. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

The Desktop you see is a combination of two folders.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
and
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Desktop

If you are the only user, move the icons from one folder to the other.

Thanks. Both users are administrators and may want to access
all the frequently-used software, etc., so I put everything in the
All Users folder. I now have correct alphabetization, which
helps a lot in finding icons.
