Desktop icons sort into two groups

Rob

My desktop icons sort into two groups. When I have them sorted on
name, the result is that half of the icons is sorted from A to Zm the
remainder is also sorted from A to Z. There are as it were two
alphabetic indezes, each with about half of the items (icons).

E.g. (skipping most icons):

Adobe Reader 9
..
..

Digital Photo Pro
..
..
..
Zoombrowser
ACDSeee
..
..
Firefox
..
..
..
WordPad

There are 36 icons on my desktop.
My system: 2 x 2 GHz Intel CPU, 2 GB RAM, Windows Vista SP1.

What can I do to have them sorted as ONE row?

Kind regards, thanks for your answer,

Rob in Amsterdam.

Normal. Or it was in XP; I haven't bothered yet in Vista.

It seems like the icons in All Users ant the icons in your own username
sort separately, but it goes beyond that. I just gave up worrying about it
:)
