How do I get rid of Downloader.AQ? and this lousy Defender program

When I got a prompt to upgrade from the normal Microsoft antispyware, which
seemed to be working fine, to Defender, I did it, and now it's a nightmare.
Defender tells me I have Downloader.AQ and asks if I want to remove it. Hit
remove and it says I must restart. Hit restart and the computer reboots only
to tell me I have a downloader.aq infection. Why bother identifying
something you can't remove? Why doesn't defender tell me the file name and
location of downloader.aq? How do I get rid of defender and go back to the
previous antispyware program (which defender apparently removed)?

Windows Defender records, in the System event log, at the time of the scan,
the precise path and filename of each detection.

Do a Start, Run, eventvwr.msc, **click OK**, then click ºn **System**, then
View, then Filter, and scroll down the " event sºurce" control to reach
Windefend, that will give you a view of just Windows Defender-related events.

Look for events with yellow triªngles
