How do I format cells to show date in Australian not US format?

I have the language set on Eglish (Australian) but trying to format cells to
show date as 08-May -2008 for example.
NormallyI would type 08/5/08 and it would formated as above. But now if I
type that in it thinks I have typed month in first - like US mehtod. How can
I change?

Excel uses the date format you have specified in your Windows Regional
Settings. Go to Control Panel, and change your regional settings.

Fred.
