How do I create a "logoff script"??

I posted this question previously...
I have my spam filtering program set to load on startup... but I'm having
some problems with it because windows does not properly close the program on
shutdown/logoff; it seems like it simply forces the process to quit. Is there
a way that I can specify that Windows should close certain programs prior to
shutdown? Something akin to the startup tab in msconfig, but for shutdown?

And I got this response...
It would depend on how you shut it down manually. A logoff script could find
the window, send the keystrokes to close it.

This sounds like a good idea to try, but I don't know how to do it!
