How do I change XP to count 1,2,3,4,5, etc and not 1,10,2,20, etc.

G

I have more than 100 filer in a folder named 1-100, XP used to display the
files
1,2,3,4, and so on, after running some XP optimiser programs XP now displays
the
files 1,10,11,12... 2.20,21,22... etc. I find this very annoying and I can't
change
it back.

Welcome to Y2K. You need to use leading zeros. Every number must be 2
digits. 01, 02, .... 09, 10 etc. If you think you may have more than 100
files you need more leading zeros: 001, 002, .... 009, 010, etc. 1000 files?
you get the picture.

That's one option, but there's an option to have Windows do some sort
of "smart" sorting where files are displayed 1, 5, 10 instead of 1,
10, 5. I can. Problem is I can't remember where I found it, and I
can't find anything in Help and Support.

I did some googling and found (of course) Ramesh's site, specifically

do this.

In TweakUI as a limited user, there is no About->Policy tab. As admin

Once in Group Policy Editor, I couldn't find anything like what you

It has nothing to do with Raymond. He can't change them because windows won't let him. They are not per user settings but what group policy writes to the registry when applied.

Users can change user settings. Users cannot change group policy settings else users can just edit the registry after logging on to circumvent group policy. Some functions have both a user setting and a GP setting. If the GP is set the user UI disapears.
