How do I change the font of my file names in the "Open" pane?

I have just upgraded to Office 2007, and when I select "Open" to open a new
file, then font on my file names is Courier...I think it used to be Times New
Roman. Is there any way to change the font?

Are you sure the font is Courier and not Calibri?

If it's Courier, then it's possible that there is no default printer. This
can limit what fonts show up in Word.

If the printer isn't the issue, then it might be a corrupted normal.dotm
file. I would try renaming normal.dotm (normal.dot, too, if it's still
present) and see if that gives you acceptable results. You might need to set
Windows Explorer to display hidden/system files in order to locate
Normal.dot and Normal.dotm. When you find one, the other should be in the
same folder.

I don't believe that anything in Word or Office has any effect on what font
is used in Explorer windows, of which the Open dialog is one. I'm running
Word 2007 under Windows XP and still see the file list in Tahoma or whatever
font it is that Windows uses. Windows Vista may use a different font, or a
different desktop theme may use a different font.

I must've replied in my sleep--I somehow read this as being the font in
documents, the subject line and the text of the message not penetrating my
tired brain. As Suzanne says, nothing in Word itself would affect this.

About the only thing that I can think of that would be causing the problem
would be if one or more of your display font files (such as Tahoma or
whatever it is that Word/Windows use to display the file list) is damaged or
missing.
