How do I change Default explorer window size?

When secondary explorer windows open they are much smaller than the original
window. How can I tell it to open at a certain size?

Try dragging it open to full size from the corner. Do not use the full
screen icon next to the X. Now hold the cntl button and click the X.
This usually works.

Windows remembers the size of the last Normal IE window closed.
Open such a link.
Don't use the maximize button.
Stretch the edges/corners so that the window fills the screen.
Close all other IE windows.
Close the stretched window.
