how do i adjust screen brightness in windos xp

when i had windows ME i used to be able to ajust the screen setting through the display setting, i could ajust the brighness, contrast, gamma and so on. but now that i have upgraded to windos xp those sttings aren't available under the setting tab in the display settings. Any know to adjust brightness and contrast in windos xp

Those driver extensions are usually available from Display
adapters, Settings, Advanced. If not present, then you need
to download the latest drivers from the card vendor's web
site.

Windows XP has native drivers for a large segment of video
cards. However, most of those drivers will not contain the
type of advanced features you are searching for.

That ability didn't come from WinME but rather from your video card
drivers. Look on the device mftr.'s website for updated drivers for
your video card, which may or may not have extra controls (Nvidia does,
for instance). Or use the buttons on your monitor.
