I too just discovered that HTML messages are "Converted to plain text"
and hyperlinks no longer work within messages in the Hotmail Junk Mail
folder. I read and use messages in the Junk Mail folder and would
like to see them in their original HTML format and the hyperlinks to
work.
Is it correct that Office 2003 SP2 is the culprit that disabled this
functionality in Outlook?
Yes.
If this is the case, then I do not appreciate Microsoft playing big
brother for me.
You should have read the documentation on SP2 prior to installing it, then,
I know which messages are legit or not and I would
like this functionality reactivated.
If the messages are not junk, why do you want them in your junk folder?
Move them out of the folder and you'll be able to click all the links they
contain.
The implication is that it can
not be undone. Would removing Office 2003 and reinstalling it,
sans SP2, work?
Probably.
Having to log into the Hotmail web interface and manuever the slow and
user-unfriendly site to add each email address to an allow list is not
something I want to have to do.
You can put domains in as well as individual addresses, which generalizes
the issue somewhat.
Maybe it's time to finally dump the hotmail account and Outlook
altogether after years of loyal support..
I'd be surprised if any particular ISP cares if any particular subscriber
comes or goes. I'd be surprised if there were any loyalty to you on their
part. It's all a business decision.
