How can I send and receive messages in real time

I checked my email several times today and had no messages from 10:30 a.m.
until 7:00 at which time 8 messages popped up, many of them written and sent
this morning.

I also sent an email this morning and didn't get a response so called the
person and she hadn't received the email sent and it was an hour later. It
was only a paragraph -- no attachments and not a big file. How can I fix
this? Thank you.

Are you pressing the send and receive button? What time did your mailbox
(not outlook) receive the messages? You can read the message header to see
when your mail server received them.

Get a decent ISP? Some of the free/cheap ones are really slow at delivering
email.
