How can I open a file created in Excel 97 with my new Excel 2003?

I just installed Office 2003 and selected upgrade to replace my old Office
97. Now I cannot open files created in Excel 97. Nothing happens -- no error
message.

There is not logical reason for this. Can you actually open Excel, Word,
etc?

If so, try (In Excel) Tools>Options...>General and un-check ignore other
applications

That worked. I can now double click the file in Explorer and it opens up in
Excel 2003. Thanks.
