SOS!!! Excel 2007 Pitvot Tables Created in Old Format

I am an early adapter at my company. All my customers are on Office XP/2003.

I have a bunch of large (> 100 MB) Excel workbooks with pivot tables which
were created on Office 2003. These tables have several thousand rows each.

I need to save the pivot table in refreshable mode in these workbooks. The
files open in Compatibility Mode, but when I save and re-open the pivot table
is just a list and not a pivot table.

I also tried roundtripping, but that did not work either. I saved the file
as 2007 macro-enabled and then re-saved in 97-2003 format.

I need this very urgently, do I have any choices except to go back to 2003?

Thanks much.

the pivot tables were updated in 2007 and saving any of the new features in
compatibility mode, as the checker that pops up should say will lose all
functionality in 2003. You should be able to open a file, save as 97-2003
and then set up a pivot table that will work in the old versions, but you
will not be able to use any of the new features, layouts, etc.

Thanks Nick for your reply. I have reverted back to Excel 2003. All my users
are on 2003 version and I have a lot of code that runs off of these pivot
tables. So it is not worth trying. Our company has also delayed roll-out due
to such incompatibilities.
