How can I keep my document from "jumping" when I am working on it?

When I am working on lengthy documents, my screen suddenly jumps to another
page (although my cursor stays in the same place). As a result I have to
page back through my document search for the point I was working on. This is
very irritating and the jumps appear to be completely arbitrary. I've tried
turning off the auto save, but this doesn't seem to be the source of the
problem. How do I make it stop?

Is Speech enabled? Maybe your computer is interpreting odd sounds as odd
commands. If this fixes it (click Tools and see if Speech is checked, if it
is, click Speech to toggle it Off). If this doesn't fix it, I wonder if your
keyboard might have a problem. Try a different keyboard.

If you still don't find relief... When it does happen... press Shift+F5 (Go
Back) to return to the place where you were working.

Thanks, I thought I had a winner with Speech, but not only is it not enabled;
it is not installed so don't think that's the culprit. Not sure I can get
another keyboard, but I'll look into that...somehow I think it's a software
problem. Your hint about Shift F5 has helped me at least get back to where I
was before the hyper-space jump occurs.

I very much doubt that it's a software problem. Look up "Sticky Keys" in
the Windows help, and make sure you do not have that turned on.

If you're using a mouse, make sure your touch-pad is not also enabled if you
are on a laptop.

Cheers

If the behavior of the "up arrow" has been changed by using Find, that would
explain the jump (assuming you're talking about the browse arrows on the
vertical scroll bar and not the arrow keys on the keyboard).

Hi All,
I also require some help in identifying this "jumping" problem. Whenever I
have a big document (> 20 pages) and I am navigating by pressing on the "up
arrow". the cursor will move up and till a sudden jump to the start of the
document.

I am not sure if this the expected behavior of MS Word 2007 (if so, I would
require some help to turn this off).

Thanks.
