How 2 update a change in 1 box to all the things that link to it

I have a document with special defined words. Within the document I have
hyperlinks set up to link back to a bookmarked glossary with definitions. I
also have each hyperlink set up with a comment box that shows some or all of
the definition depending on the length.

Sometimes I update definitions. In this situation all the hyperlinks become
obsolete. How could I set up the hyperlinks to define a field so that they
automatically update when I change that defined field? Also, is there a way
to automatically fill in the comment boxes with a defined field?

If I'm following you correctly, you'd have to bookmark the information that can
change, then use a REF field to display that information elsewhere.
