Hover Button Malfunction

R

Richard Saunders

The hover buttons used on several of my websites created in FrontPage
2000 since February 2003 have recently become non functional and
appear only in outline when viewed on line from my PC (with Windows
ME). The problem also exists with web pages previewed within
FrontPage. All other hyperlinks on the sites are unaffected. The
problem seems to be linked to a recent Internet Explorer upgrade to
version 6.0.2800.1106IS as I have also witness the same problem from a
new laptop with a similar issue of IE. Fortunately the problem does
not seem to be present (yet) with the majority of my site visitors. Is
anyone able to offer a solution please?

I had the same problem. It has something to do with the later versions of
windows not coming with some java related component. I solved the problem
by not using hover buttons but creating 2 images and using dhtml.

Change the Hover Buttons to JavaScript Rollover images.

As you have seen, new installations of IE6, and Windows XP, do not have a
Java Virtual Machine (JVM) required to operate Java Hover Buttons and all
other Java applets. Users will have to download Sun's JVM from www.java.com
to see any Java applet.
