Host screen resolution setting changes after connection

Host and remote machines both running XP Pro SP2, both with screen settings
of 1280x1024. After a remote desktop session via VPN, the host (distant)
machine's screen setting is changed to 1024x768 and must be reset to the
desited setting when I physically log back onto it.

During the session, it appears correctly at the 1280x1024 setting. Even
when making a connection to the host machine later, it appears correctly.

What's up with this, and how can it be prevented?

Try updating the video drivers on the host.

I'll give that try when I'm next at the host machine - though the driver
currently installed isn't that old.
