Host name could not be resolved

I'm getting the error message "Remote Assistance connection could not be
established because the remote host name could not be resolved" that other
users have reported. My problem is a little different.

I'm using Remote Assistance to help a novice set up her computer. Remote
assistance initially worked fine. However, it stopped working after we
installed some (video and print) drivers. The user setup was okay; remote
assistance invitations were authorized in the System Properties/Remote page.

I had seen somewhere that Remote Assistance requires file and print sharing
to be on. So, we re-ran the Network Setup Wizard on the novice's machine and
set file and printer sharing to 'on'. After a reboot, remote assistance
again worked without problem.

After installing a couple of programs, we needed to reboot, and after the
reboot, remote assistance was knocked out again. Same error message about
resolving the host. We went through the same drill--verifying that remote
assistance invitations are authorized in System Properties/Remots, then
running the Network Setup Wizard to make sure file and print sharing are on.
We rebooted, but remore assistance was still out, with the same error
message.

Both computers are running SP2, and communications on both ends is through a
Linksys WRT54G.

Does anyone recognize the problem? Does file and print sharing have to be
turned on for remote assistance? For security reasons, I'd much rather have
it turned off. Any fix for the remote assistance problem? Thanks for your
help.
