Homepage Hijack

Can anybody tell me how programs can hijack my homepage?

My default homepage is not the one that I want to use. It is allegedly for a
spyware company that I have no knowledge of or interest in. However, I can't
change my homepage. The default setting is to this site. I have tried to
change one or two registry entries to resolve this but whenever I restart
IE, the problem recurrs. CVan anybody tell me why this is so and give me a
way or a utility to remove it with?

Thanks

Sam
