home page keeps changing to an unwanted search engine

how do i prevent an unwanted home page from constantly
changing the one i selected in: tools, internet options,
general tab, home page?

if i apply the one i want and just launch, close, and
reopen the i.e. 6 browser it remains but when i shut down
the computer then start up and open internet explorer, the
same unwanted start page has replaced the one i selected
before shutting down.

i,ve tried using cwshredder.exe & hijackthis.exe and in
the past they've worked to kill the unwanted entries but
no longer.

please help. thanks

The problem may be due to a spyware.

Download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com, scan the system and eliminate
the malware products. Re-apply the above fix if necessary.
** Remember to update the pattern file using WebUpdate in Ad-Aware **
