home page changes overnight

home page and default search engine changes overnight.
running MS 2000, EI 6.0. Have changed default home page
under tools program, reloaded different search engine.
Reboots work fine all day on new files until pc is powered
off overnight and restarted the next morning. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
