Folks, I have my main computer running win xp home edition, plug into
a linksys router to a cable modem, upstairs computer is using a
wireless connection to the router and it is on the network and does
print sharing just fine.

Just got a lap top from work and I cannot get it on the network, I
currently plug it directly into the router and I am able to get out on
the www and even use the VPN for work.

So any suggestions on how to get it as part of my home network

Regards

Pete,

I've got a similar problem and don't have much experience here. My biggest
problem currently is I cannot get my VPN to go through my DLink router.
Works if I connect my laptop directly to the modem, but not in the DMZ of my
router.

Anyway, I'm needing to get answers to this question as well. I think the
answer is in the machines domain. But I warn you, if you change your laptops
domain, make certain your connected to your work network before you do.
Otherwise, you might need an administrator to get you back on (I've done
this).

Regards,
Doug

Doug, I can hook the lap top up to the router and use the VPN
connection for work just fine. I was doing some reading and ran into
the issue you talk about in regards to work networks etc. So I am not
quite sure what to do at this point
