Home Network Issue

Ok i have a Desktop running Windows Xp Professional, A laptop running Windows
Xp Home, with both computers running Nortan Internet Security 2004. The
laptop has an 802.11b wireless card in it, and my setup is this. I have a
DSL Portal modem connected to a Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router (model
BEFW 11s4). The desktop is hooked into the Router with an ethernet cable,
and the laptop accesses the internet via the wireless card. My problem is i
cannot seem to figure out how to succesfully establish a network for
file/printer sharing between the 2 computers. Is it possible with this
equipment, and if so can someone help me out please?

Dragonblaze,

yes, it's certainly possible. For a start, please have a look at

Run XP's Network Setup Wizard on both computers, and tell it that they
connect to the Internet through a residential gateway (router).

If that doesn't get file sharing to work, then Norton Internet
Security could be blocking access between the computers. Configure it
to allow access between your computers:

1. Double-click the system tray icon for Norton Personal Firewall.
2. Click Personal Firewall.
3. Click Configure.
4. Click Networking.
5. Click Trusted.
6. If your network's address doesn't appear, click Wizard and follow
the prompts to automatically configure the adapter for the home
network.
