Hitting Delete Key Shifts Display

Simpleton question.. I am used to 2003 PPT where I could select an item or
text box or image and hit "delete" on the keyboard and my screen display
would be maintained (if I was zoomed in to the upper left corner it would
stay there). Now I have the new 2007 and when I select an item and hit the
delete key, if I'm zoomed in to the upper left corner, it automatically
centers the slide on my screen (I'll still be zoomed in, but now in the
center instead of upper corner). Seems a petty complaint but for my job I
work with up to 30 ppt files a day with logos I am replacing, so this
function is important to me. It's a real nuisance having to relocated myself
on screen every time I delete. Help?

Wow, PPT -- you're right. That's bogus.

On my system, there is a threshold at 200% zoom where it kicks in. If I keep
my zoom below that, it does not occur, but once I get to 200%, bam, any
deletion of an object automatically triggers a centering of the view.

It does not happen to me for placeholders; just locally-drawn objects. I
can't see any explanation for this except that it is a flat-out bug, or a
completely overthought "feature." Albert Einstein would call it a
"shlimbee":

An improvement that makes something worse.

Yikes... does this mean I'm screwed?

I've noticed on mine there is no threshold... even if I'm only zoomed in to
32%, if it doesn't fit centered on my screen it shifts.

You may benefit from using a macro to replace the logo images. That way,
you don't need to zoom-in at all. Press and done stuff. Do you use macros
now?

No, I don't. Unfortunately these are client files of students mostly, using
various different logos, always in different sizes, and different places.
Doesn't sound like macros is the solution that will work for me. This is most
unfortunate for me, but I'm thinking of going back to 2003 anyways.
