History Won't Clear

I'm again raising the issue of IE not clearing it's
history when the clear history tab is clicked. It
appears more common after Messenger has been used, or if
some other MS product (eg outlook) is running. I've
rebooted, reset autocomplete tabs, tried clearing it from
control panel while IE is closed down, and still the
history won't clear. I've even erased the history folder
and index.dat file, but that won't work. A quick look
through the postings here says this is a common problem.
When are MS going to deal with it? Does anyone have any
ideas?

Hi,
Another program might be locking your history.

Try clearing the History right after startup with NO (or very few) other
programs running- especially Outlook, OE, Messenger (even Windows Explorer.)

The ActiveX filter of McAfee (and possibly other) anti-virus programs can
interfere with the history function of IE. Just disable the ActiveX filter.
