History of recently browsed pages

In MS applications eg Excel, under Insert above the toolbar there is an option to insert a hyperlink. In the dialogue box you can look in "Browsed Pages" which purports to show pages recently visited. Does anyone know where these pages are stored so I can delete them? IE/Tools/Internet Options/Clear History doesn't do it. Some are really old and should have been replaced by now, I would have thought. I have tried doing a search for the URLs, including looking in hidden files, but that doesn't find them. Is there a limit to the amount of storage they are given? If so, can I reduce that to zero and get rid of them?
