high speed USB device plug into non-high speed port

Hi,

The card is for my digital camera, i've saved some photos on the card. Then
I plug my card into my card reader and plug my card reader into my computer
via the USB port. When I go into my computer and open the removable drive,
I got the following error: "high speed USB device plug into non-high speed
port". May I ask what's that mean? Thanks in advance.

Regards
Adrian

It means "high speed USB device plug into non-high speed port". EGADS
Batman, it means exactly what it says. You've plugged a USB 2.0 device into
a USB 1.1 port. Just chick OK, and go on.

There are two types of USB ports, 1.1, the original, and 2.0 which is
higher speed. Systems can come with one, the other or some of each; if
the system only comes with 1.1 then you can put in an add in card to
give 2.0 functionality if needed.. Putting a device that is USB 2.0 on
a 1.1 port will generate this message. The device will work but will
run slower. For your purposes it shouldn't make any difference. If you
were running an external disk drive it would. Check the documentation
for the system so see of any of the USB ports are 2.0
