"hide inactive icons" greyed out

hi all...
cant figure this one out....
running sp2, when try to customize taskbar, the entire section "hide
inactive icons" is greyed out (not just the customize section)....only in
ONE of the several users on my pc...other users dont have this, so it seems
to be a user setting or registry entry..

Have researched web fairly thoroughly, but no answers that work so far...

Have seen multiple answers in other places suggesting modifying the
"enableautotray" entry in registry (current
user--microsoft--windows--explorer), but modifying this entry doesnt correct
this issue...still greyed out...

Any thoughts??
Alan

thanks for the tip, mark, but that doesnt work, the entire statement "hide
inactive icons" is still greyed out along with the check box and cant be
changed; i also tried changing the same setting in the registry
myself.....there must be another setting that i cant figure out....
