Hidden extension to use to search for FOLDERS ?

I would like a FOLDER extension to use so Acdsee's search can
actually locate FOLDERS as distinct from other file types.

I explain this in more detail below.

-------

I have got some FOLDERS (or are they actually DIRECTORIES) where I
have stored jpeg files. I would like my old copy of Acdsee to
locate some of these FOLDERS by name.

I want to locate the actual FOLDERS. And then I will ask Acdsee
search for a particular FILE within that list of found FOLDERS.

Is there a super-hidden extension for an XP FOLDER? (This is the
sort of FOLDER into which I would have stored files such as
jpegs.)

The file type .FOLDER can be found in the registry at

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\.Folder

but I think this is used by XP only for creating FOLDERS. I would
like a FOLDER extension to use so Acdsee's search can actually
locate FOLDERS as distinct from other file types.

Folders have no extension. Usually you search for them in a Windows
command/console window using the two characters '*.'
Whatever Acdsee is, perhaps it has some documentation?
