Hibrenate hangin on XP Pro

I just did an upgrade to XP Pro on my Compaq laptop. With
home, the hibernate function worked perfect. Now it hangs
up on the screen that says "preparing to hibernate" and
will not do it. I have to shut it down and then restart
it. Any suggestions or fixes?

If this is a recent issue, try using System Restore to take you back to a
time prior to when this started:
Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.

Yes it's a new issue. Happened after the upgrade. If I
do a system restore won't that be an issue because of the
upgrade?

Perhaps you should clarify from what it was you upgraded. I'm not aware of
any previous version of Windows that had a hibernate function. I assumed
from your original post that you meant hibernate had functioned on XP and
worked fine and now it doesn't.

What were you running on which hibernate worked, from what did you upgrade?
