Hibernation causes loss of internet connection.

After I put my Dell desktopWinXP into hibernation or standby I lose my
internet connection, not right away, after several hours. In other words ,
my laptop, which is wi-fied to the same router cannot connect to the
internet.
I have to retrain and sometimes reboot the Dell desktop to get it back.
All 3 green lights on Cisco 675 are solid when this happens.

you CANNOT put the computer to sleep and expect the internet to keep working.

Mike, perhaps he means that the computer wasn't supposed to hibernate in the
first place and he wonders why the internet connection isn't enough to keep
it open? Mine does that too and it's rather annoying.

Sorry, mabe I didn't make myself clear.
My laptop gets it's WI-FI connection from the Linksys router, and the DSL
modem is connected to the Linksys.
When I shut the desktop down my WI-FI connection to the laptop stays intact,
however when the desktop is in hibernation, the internet connection is lost
after a while.
