HELP!!

I was on Craigslist and could not send an email. We use msn and have Verizon
service. What do I need to do to get Windows mail to work. How do I get my
Windows email to function? I get a rejected email address and says my email
message could not be sent. If I need to set something up through Windows it
would be great if I had an explanation in a language that the non-computer
genius could understand. I am far from an idiot, but this is rediculous.
Vista needs to be reworked, as so far what I have seen is totally
unacceptable, when you need a computer genuis to help send emails, I think
maybe there's an issue or 20.

You should be able to access a Verizon email account with Windows Mail, but
not the webmail accounts, like MSN/Hotmail/Live.

Download and use the newer Windows Live Mail, which can access
MSN/Hotmail/Live email accounts, in addition to POP & IMAP accounts.

Well I got that to work, but now I got this when trying to send an email from
Criaglist:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Jacking
Tools Tray for chevy C/K truck - $15 (Hampton)', Account:
'incoming.verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '550 5.7.1 Authentication Required', Port: 25, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Now what?

Go to Tools - Accounts - (youraccount) - Properties - Servers

Under the section "Outgoing Mail Server"
[x] My server requires authentication
