HELP: XP "Config parser error ... machine.config

R

Rick Ferguson

I have Windows XP Pro. Just within the last couple of
weeks, an error has started to pop up after the computer
boots (within about 45-60 seconds after it's booted).
The title bar of the error reads "Config parser error"
and the error text in the box reads:

Error parsing C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705
\config\machine.config
Parser returned error 0xC00CE508

There is only an "OK" button, which I press.

I have not noticed any problems with the running of
any programs or utilities, but what would cause this?
Can it be fixed to go away? Thank you!

Hi Rick

Maybe you can uninstall and reinstall the .NET Framework... that seems to be
the component that gives you trouble. You might also want to upgrade to the
latest version of it (v1.1.4322)

Thanks
