Help with Update of Date Fields

K

Korey Jenkins

Hi everyone...

I hope someone can help me....

My boss came to me and asked if it was possible to prevent all of all
templates in Word from automatically updating the date field when it
is opened on a day to day basis.

He would ideally like it to be as follows:

He opens and uses one of our templates with a date field on it and
saves it. Upon opening, it would show today's date. If he were to
open that exact same template that he used the next day, he doesn't
want the date to say the next day's date with all the information he
typed, rather he wants the date that he typed all the info to stay the
same.

Is that possible, if so....HOW?

Hope I explained it clearly?

Any help would be appreciated....

Korey

PS---All of our templates in this office are on a server....We use a
combination of Windows98 Machines and Windows XP Business Edition.

Your boss's templates need to have a CreateDate field in them instead of a
Date field. The date in the template will always be the date it was created,
but new documents based on the template will have the current date, which
will never change.
