Help with Event ID 1058

Tom

Hi,

Whenever I boot up I get the following error in the
Application Event Log that I can't seem to resolve.

Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN=
{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-
00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=somedomain,DC=net.
The file must be present at the location
<\\somedomain.net\sysvol\somedomain.net\Policies\{31B2F340-
016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>. (The network path
was not found. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

The file is there. I have read the MSKB Article 314494
that explains to me this will happen if a Win XP computer
is a member of a domain and the DFS Client is turned off
(disabled). I went into the registry like the article
told me to do but the selection DisableDFS is not in the
key. Does DFS have to be turned on at the server for a
workstation to be able to enable DFS. I can't find this
service anywhere on the workstation.

This is very confusing and frustrating. If anyone could
help, I may get to leave a little bit of hair on my head.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Ken,

I can get to it with NotePad and open it up.

Thanks,

Tom

Are you able to get to that file manually with notepad or similar?
