Help with Dream Scene please

L

Linda Perkins

Hello,
I have Vista Ultimate on a HP notebook. I would like to install dream
scene. It's not in the ultimate extras updates. When I go to view update
history It shows that it tried to download last November but the download
was cancelled. I can't find any info on reinstalling it. Can you please
tell me how I can install it and is it worth installing?

Thanks in advance,
Linda

hello go to the control panel > Programs and features of vista (the old add
remove programs) and then to "turn windows features on and off" and see if
its listed there as a component to be removed

if it is, remove it and go to windows update and redownload it...

if you need any further help post..

tell us if this helps

Thank you for your reply. I tried what you suggested, going to "turn
windows features on and off" and dream scene is not there. It's not in the
add remove programs either. I even tried a search and there is no trace of
it anywhere on the computer.

I also updated Windows Ultimate Extras. It says "No new Windows Ultimate
Extras are available for your computer at this time.

Did you by any chance install SP1 for vista?
Do you have Vista 64 bit?

can you right click on COMPUTER in the start menu and select proprties?
what version of vista do you have?

Linda Perkins

I have not install SP1.

This is the system info:
Version 6.0.6000 Build 6000
X-64 based PC

When you open Windows Updates, in the left side menu, click Restore Hidden
Updates. Do you see Dream Scene there?

L

Linda

No, there is nothing listed in the restore hidden updates list.

I did a search of my computer for Dream Scene and there is no trace of it.

Is there anywhere I can go to download it?

Make sure you have used all of the proper steps to install Dreamscene. It
may be that it is already installed? There should be a folder at this
location:
C:\Windows\Web\Windows DreamScene
That contains several video files.
You also must be using a video card that is capable of running the Aero
Theme.

See this page for more information.

MR MVP.. lol.. you guys dont know much about vista do you?

You can install dreamscene on non aero glass capable vista just fine!
the microsoft even says this, and then goes on to say that it enables non
glass capable systems to set videos
as wallpapers but in static mode only.

I looked and DreamScene is not in C:\Windows\Web\Windows DreamScene. I've
done a search of the computer and there is no DreamScene anywhere.

Yes, my computer does run the Aero theme. It's a HP Pavilion dv6000
notebook. I purchased it new in November.

DreamScene is not in the ultimate extras updates. My update says there are
no Ultimate extras available. When I go to view update history It shows that
DreamScene tried to download last November but the download
was cancelled. I have the computer set to auto download updates.

Is there anywhere, maybe from Microsoft, that I can get Dreamscene?

I know I never got the Ultimate Extra Texas Hold'em Poker Game either. I
don't know if I've missed any other Extras.

Thank you for your help!!!

Linda

On the Bridge!

your computer has service pack 1 downloaded by a mistake microsoft made and
released sp1 to some users
of 64 bit vista.

To verify this go to start, and type winver and press enter

When you have SP1 then no extras are in the list because they have not
updated them for SP1

You are losing your time trying to find a solution. You will have to wait
until the extras are upated for SP1

Thank you Ronnie and On the Bridge for all your help. I will post a message
to the Windows Update newsgroup and see if they can help me.

Thanks again for your time and help!
