help with choosing formula

I am trying to make my workbook pick up the dates employees are taking
holidays. Then I need to book in relief for those shifts. I want to be able
to see if I have double booked a relief employee. So I need to use a formula
that looks up the date and employee name. I tried hlookup and vlookup but
that did not work. Is there anyone that can help me choose the right
formula???

Hi,

And from the Help system on DEC2HEX

"If number < -549,755,813,888 or if number > 549,755,813,887, DEC2HEX
returns the #NUM! error value. "

Page 1 The v's are vacation
A B C D
E F
1Employee Name Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu

2Pat Chubey V V V V
3Gwen Christianson V V V V

Page 2
A B
1Employee Name Mar 15/09
2Pat Chubey 9-5
The v from page 1 to come under her shift as a v on page 2
Then I want it look on another page for relief
Fill in the employee name under the v
Sometimes the shift is split, so I may have two employees
I am unsure on how to organize this and make it user friendly.
