Help w/music and animation

Hi,
I have PP 2003. I'm just trying to make a little birthday slide.
The Text moves across the screen like I want it to, I have a bear on a bike
that pedals in the middle of the screen (from clipart).
I inserted a sound from the Movies and Sound clips that came with my
computer (ie: I'm not trying to add something I got from somewhere else)
But it won't play.
When I pull it up in Movies and Sounds, I can click on the preview and hear
it, but when I insert it into my show, it doesn't play at all. I've tried
"automatic" and "on click" doesn't work.
I've right clicked and clicked on "play sound" and it doesn't play.
What am I doing wrong?? :p

First check in slide show > custom animation that the music is the first item
in the list. If not drag it to this position. Next double click it and set
stop playing to "after current slide" see if that helps.

Thank you John. I tried all your suggestions to no avail... but I decided to
try a different type of file and discovered that the wav files would work,
but the midi wouldn't.
I wonder why that is? These are the files that come with it.
Oh well, I didn't have "happy birthday" in a wav, but found some happy music
that worked.
