Help! Trying toconvert from Word Perfect.

I have been using Word Perfect exclusively since 1990. From what I can see,
it is far superior to Word, but alas Microsoft controls the world so I need
to switch to Word.

The help menu in Word is awful. It seems to be impossible to find what you
need, but I'll work through that.

In Word Perfect, I use "Reveal Codes" which shows me at the bottom of the
window all the dormatting codes for the document. I can tell when settings
such as underlining, bold, font size, etc. are turned on and off.

When I copy and paste I don't inadvertently end up with formatting that
changes my new document.

Is there a "Reveal Codes" in Word?

Is there a web site that has some good "getting started" info for Word, with
examples shown, and how to do it information??

Please help.

Thanks!

In particular, if you have not been using styles in WP, pay close attention
to Shauna's lessons on styles (summarized at

One of the biggest problems is if you HAVE been using styles in WordPerfect.

Everything comes through as a default style, and no attempt to change it to
another style works.
