I just started having th following message pop up when I boot XP or restart
XP.
"One of the files containing the system's registry data had to be recovered
by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful."
Since this is annoying, I decided to try to do a "system restore" from
several points when I didn't get the message. "system restore" just sits
there after a select a restore point. I hit "next" and nothing seems to
happen (even after waiting 15-20 minutes). Tried this and rebooting multiple
times. Something seems damaged, and search the knowledge base turns up no
real solutions.
Running XP with SP2 with all known security patches applied. System has been
very stable for the past 2 years.
