RGS6

When attempting to play an .avi file that has been embedded in a PowerPoint
presentation I receive the following error msg: Video not available, cannot
find 'vids:xvid' decompressor. The particular video plays fine when directly
accessed by Windows Media Player.

Thanks, in advance, for any help or suggestions.

Here are some details on my setup:
Windows 2003 Office Suite
Windows XP Media Center Ed., version 2002, Svc Pack 2

AVI file info:
Frame rate is 15 frames/sec
Data rate is 38kbps
Bit rate is 64kbps
Audio format is Lame MP3
File size is 5.21 MB

This is basically saying that your computer does not have a 'codec' called
xvid.

It need this to uncompress and display the movie.

Visit
http://www.playsforcertain.com

download the free trial and it should convert your movie to something that
powerpoint will quite happily play.

TAJ -- Thanks very much for your help. The PlaysForCertain program resolved
my problem. Interestingly though, I have the latest xvid codec installed in
my system. As my original post indicated, the avi file in question played
fine on Windows Media Player (and in the DiVX Player) but would not play from
within PowerPoint. Regardless, PFC solved my problem.

Again, many thanks! -- RGS6
