Help, please. "This MSI must be launched through setup."

"This MSI must be launched through setup."
This statement appears on "startup" & whenever I (try to) open a .pps
file, in which case the message repeats itself three times. I have MS
Office XP 2002 installed. This message also shows up when BearShare
starts up. I have an MSI m'board??? Is the message sent by the
motherboard or is it MicroSoft stuff? and more to the point, how can I
stop it from appearing?
Any advice more than gratefully accepted.
Many thanks in advance.

No it's not related to the motherboard. It's a Microsoft installer file
trying to run. Download the autoruns utility from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/Autoruns.mspx

Run this utility and it will show what loads when windows starts. Look
around for an .msi file or some sort of Office suite installer entry.

Also isn't BearShare some sort of peer to peer file sharing utility? Is
your system clean of malware?

Ok, also if you have an office suite installed run the repair from within
it.
