I have win mail on newer laptop would like to ERASE or LOAD over WINMAIL in VISTA outlook express that works much better than the new WIN MAIL concept.
I cant send anything off the laptop have to use the hotmail webpage a real tacky nasty hassle!
Can I load outlook express on while running Vista? How do I do this?
I need outlook express for reason of email sending and receiving off Outlook Express on the desktop wireless cpu and not doing so with hotmail account off Win Mail laptop wireless -

It would seem this is a really bad step backwards for this program to not let you configure for hotmail and yahoo to arrive in your mailbox - the other way is way to slow.....bogs the programs down and why do I want to download live to have it take its time appearing or messing up with all the problems and complicated configuring issues.........really miss the old
outlook express - that seemed to work just fine - these other new concepts are appearing a little cartoon like - not as before in appearance - can that be changed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated -looks like only way around this is bringing back the old Outlook Express to my vista laptop - let me know thanks Jen

Outlook Express won't run under Vista.

Make sure you are not confusing Windows Live Mail with another program in
the Windows Live family:

I'm still learning as I go so just wanted to clarify .........
In regard to outlook express, as I understand we can only use it with xp
then and not with any of vista. I would then need to switch to xp prof is
this correct?
How do I send mail from the wireless laptop with vista win mail if I do
continue to use vista ? It will not send mail. Do I have to load live mail?
Are there any other solutions? I did this on the desktop computer and it
seemed slow and had many complicated folders that seemed duplicated.

Why can I send a test email to the group there, but not to send emails any
where else from the laptop -
that is why I did the test that you gave me a c- reply hahah...... you
mentioned to test some where else public.test.......I didn't think the reply
would go any where or that I could send a question of help to you but did
see that it did work in a test so decided to send a request for some
help -thanks
Jen..........woops its the difference of sending to a news server -thanks

XP is one of the better versions of Windows that Outlook Express
will run under. Some of the more recent laptops don't come with
the versions of the drivers needed to run all their hardware under
XP, though, and their makers often haven't even written such
drivers. If you plan to install XP, try to download XP drivers
for all your hardware first, in case XP comes with no driver
for something you need to reach the internet.

Wireless connections often go though a neighbor's wireless server
instead of your own, and therefore often through another internet
provider. Connections to the outgoing email server that cross over
from one internet provider's equipment to another's and use port 25
are often blocked to cause trouble for spammers. A few internet
providers even do this for most of the other ports their email
servers listen to, if there are any. However, many offer connections
to the outgoing email server through some other port, but you
should find out which port before you try to switch over, since
there are about 65,000 ports available.

You may want to check if your internet provider offers email, and
if so, whether their outgoing email server accepts mail on any port
other than port 25.

Also, Windows Mail won't connect to Hotmail or any other email
providers using the HTTP protocol. Windows Live Mail will
connect to most of them, but you don't want to use it. I think Outlook
will, if you are prepared to pay its extra cost. I've heard of a program
called Windows Live Hotmail that you may want to consider. If you
need more information on Outlook, try this newsgroup:

microsoft.public.outlook.general

If none of these programs suit you, you'll probably have to try a
non-Microsoft email program and hope you like it better.

Windows Mail comes as a part of Vista, and is very hard to
uninstall without doing the same to the rest of Vista. You can,
however, remove all the accounts under it, so it won't do much
if you start it, and delete any shortcuts that make it easy to
start.

You are sending messages here as posts on a newsgroup, not
as email. They don't use port 25, and usually don't have problems
with blocked ports.
