You supply no details of your PC.
And you've posted the error message seemingly invalid and/or incomplete?
"0x0000014" is a page fault for software instruction for memory addressing.
So it is a software issue, and not your hardware.
It's *usually* a result of exception errors, in your instance
seemingly detected prior to execution?
What does all that mean you may ask.
Well have you download/installed ALL updates/patches for
windows and ALL installed software? If so..........
Have you recently installed any software that you can make
a correlation with this problem occurring?
And once again with a post with very few pertinant details...
Did WMM use to work and now it dosen't, so did you try a
system restore point?

Now I am a bit confused.
You say you have SP2 installed so that means you "should" have Movie Maker
2.1 nor 2.0 since version 2.1 comes with SP2.
Search for this file: "C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe"
Run it from there and see what version it is then, you may find that you
have 2.0 and 2.1 installed on your computer.

Hi,
Are you having any other major problems with your PC?
I note you have XP pro, and an odd configure 768 ram,
(have you recently added 256 to the spare slot?)
but an excellent FSB of 2ghz?
As for the installation of 2.1(?), where was this from?
What exactly is the displayed onscreen error: "something
about my net settings and what to do" - "but dosen't work"?
The very *exact* details of that error message could be
very helpful in solving the problem.
You also typed you can't "download patches nor updates"?
Is this a specific problem with the MS Windows Update site?
I have a feeling your problems maybe a little more far reaching
than just with WMM?
Is it a legit and valid install of XP pro?
Take care.

ok my friend got me a copy of 2.1 YAY but guess what the same problem
still happens = (
ok i will try to answer your questions..
i had and extra 256mb added about 5 months ago
yes it is a legit copy.. i had a fake copy to begin with but my uncle
formatted it with a real copy of XP pro.
when i tried to download the patches it said something about enabling
userdata persistance which was already enabled.
erm... thats it i guess.

MS will allow critical updates to a pirate copy of XP as these can
have an impact on the security of other users entwined online.............
But MS will not allow updates, patches etc for a pirate installation.
"it said something about emabling userdata persistence" -
That is a security issue for another forum - when you have a
valid and genuine copy of XP installed.
Your PC requires updates and patches before your WMM will be
able to function correctly, A bit tricky in your circumstances?

Your problems all stem from the pirated version of windows, which will not
go away until your boot drive partitions are deleted and a new partition is
created in its place and then formatted.

Granted you are only 14, but you are learning a valuable lesson here about
stealing.

all these problems would have been avoided had you just bought and installed
a legitimate copy of windows in the first place.

Okay, I'm not out to provoke you, so we'll just drop
the pirate issue, though it is relevent....................
You posted that WMM would crash when you open it,
and it produced an error message of which you didn't
reproduce in full or accurately in your posts.
Windows dosen't "guess" at error messages, there is
the MS knowledge base (KB) that usually is ideal for
decyphering such error messages.

0x0000014 is a software issue, and maybe due to a
flaw? This type is known as an "exception" quite possibly
via IE? In one post you also typed:
"it said something about emabling userdata persistence"
This is probably corruption to configuration settings,
nontheless it is a security issue.
You have admitted that you have failed - for whatever
reason, to keep "your version" uptodate and have
not downloaded and installed all required patches etc.
I suggest that WMM crashing is the least of your problems
Your PC is probably on the verge of collapse.........

Someone who uses pirated software is a thief. You used pirated software.
You are a thief. It does not matter who installed it on your computer. You
used it. If someone steals a car, and then lets you use the car, you are
still driving a stolen car. Ignorance is no excuse.

Nobody is debating the issue here.
The fact is you already said "I had a fake copy to begin with" so to say
your not a "stealer" is not true even if you don't or didn't realize that
what you had on the computer was illegal.
But it doesn't matter if you now have a legitimate copy.
But if your uncle didn't actually remove the partitions then recreate and
reformat them before installing the legit copy of XP then that is still the
most likely reason that updates will not install.

Yes you are, you may not think so but if you really had, and I quote, "i had
a fake copy to begin with ." That is considered stealing under the software
piracy provisions.
