When ever I try installing Microsoft XNA Game Studio Express It stops
installing when it says "Registering project templates". This is what it
looks like: http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a275/keeepout/Untitled.jpg

I am on Windows Vista RC2. I have allready installed Microsoft Visual C#
2005 Express Edition but the XNA part wont install. Their website says it
should work with Vista but it doesnt for me.

Hi,

Did you start by right clicking the setup file and choosing "run as
administrator". Without elevated privileges, many installers will fall over
and fail.

Hi,

I'm referring to the actual setup.exe or .msi file that is run. Don't use an
autorun routine, explore via Windows Explorer the media containing the setup
files for it.

Hi,

Don't let the setup autorun from the installation media. Open Windows
Explorer to the media (CD or folder created after expanding a download).
Right click the .msi file, use "run as administrator".

Once again, there is no option to run as administrator. I saved it to my
desktop and there is no option when I right click it. Someone told me to
start it from an administrator command prompt but I am not sure what to type
(it is called xnagse_setup.msi and is located on my desktop). can you please
help me? thank you

Click on the Start Orb, type "cmd" (do not hit enter), right click on the
Command icon in the menu above, choose Add to Quick Launch. Then right
click on the Command icon you placed on the QL and select Properties. The
Shortcut tab on the Properites page will display. Click the Advanced button
ant then put a checkmark in the Run As Administrator box. OK out of
Properites. Now you can run the command prompt with administrator rights
anytime you want. Running the msi file should work now.

Hi,

An alternate method to Colin's:

Click start, type CMD. In the menu you should now see the command prompt at
the top. Right click this and choose 'run as administrator'. It should
prompt for permission (UAC) to run. The prompt will be at the
C:\Windows\system32 folder, type: "cd %userprofile%\desktop" (no quotes) and
hit <enter>. Now type: "xnagse_setup.msi" (again, no quotes) and hit
<enter>. This should run the installer with the necessary elevated
privileges.

I'm having the same issue... I tried as suggested but it still crashes at
the point you describe. Can you describe what you did in more detail?
