We have been having trouble with our Dell Inspiron Laptop. Had it in the shop
because the internal battery was no good, upgraded the memory and had a new
usb put in. When we got it back it messed and it wouldn't boot up to windows,
sometimes it would others it wouldn't. Gives a message that there was no
bootable disk or something along those lines. I ordered a new hard drive from
dell. Took the old on out, and pluged the new one in. It has a cd with it
that says easy plug and play documentation. But when I turn the pc on it
tells me
no boot sector on hard disk, no bootable devices, strike f1 to retry or f2
for set up utility. Help please

Try to Tab F8 to get to the BIOS and change the sequence for Boot up options
to CD then HDD and see if you can Boot and install.
Did it came from the shop muled or you messed it up?.

It came from the shop like that. I called them and told them what it was
doing and they said that they were afraid that the hd was going bad. I do
know if I have to take it somewhere else it won't be back to them lol..thanks
for your help I'll see if I can get to that

It won't let me get to BIOS with the f8 tab, it goes right to the screen that
tells me the drive ect..the f12 tab pulls up another screen but it wont boot
the cd from that one?

Hi Tonya,
Try Dell and Give them a ring and see what will say.
Are you sure that you fit the HDD firmly in the Laptop and not the wrong way
round.

"tab F8" to get to the BIOS? Is that what you meant? F8 will take you to a
choices screen. BIOS access is different.
