Hi Jill,
=> Go here and put the serial number for your Monitor or the the Specs and
download the software/Driver for it;
http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp
=> Then Turn off your computer and Hoock up the new Monitor (Gateway) with
Monitor Cable ( be carefull not to break any pins just softly, softly and be
sure it is the right way and secure it with the screws).
=> Power up your Computer and if you have your computer set up to detect New
hardware it will detect the new Monitor as *Plug and Play* and prompt you for
Floppy/CD to insert to install the Proper driver for it or let you select
from a list already exist on your system (do not select that because MS will
install the default driver which I think you have now).
If you have the right Driver your installation will be successful and when
you are in adjust your display settings by Right Click on (empty space) on
your Desktop screen
and select Properties from the drop down list.
=> On the Display Properties select settings and set your display *Color
Quality* to 16 Bit, 32 bit.
=> The same with the Screen Resolution; 800 by 600 pixels, 1024 by 768
pixels. etc.
HTH.
Please let us know.
Regards,
nass
