Help! Epson Scanner driver Unistall problem

Hi, I have an Epson (3490) scanner utility that's currently loaded into
WinXp Pro sp2. The utility is "Epson Copy Utility 3". I am trying to
uninstall
then reinstall it due to a launching problem. I tried to remove it via the
Add/Remove programs feature in Control Panel. But a message returns with
"Installshield setup launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close".
I have tried deleting any references to any Epson products in program files
and gone into Regedit and deleted any entries, but still no luck at removing
the reference to the Copy Utility in Add/Remove program feature. Accessing
through Safe Mode doesn't help or reinstalling on top of the earlier copy
then trying to uninstall it ..it's still in the system, it's still listed
in the A/R window. As well the Installshield website gives no help or
reference to this error message.

Any further suggestions appreciated.

If you scan the registry for the exact string COPY UTILITY (I just was looking at this on
my A/R just a few minutes ago), there should be an uninstall string. Maybe the path to
that uninstall is bad which is why you can't uninstall gracefully. You could always
whack/delete the registry entry. IOW, you'll be able to tell by comparing the A/R list to
the registry list you're looking at what is safe or not safe to do.
